Family Fantasy Football

It’s that time of year again!! It’s football season!!!!

Football has been an important part of our lives for many years.

I didn’t watch football growing up, my family was more into basketball. But just after my husband and I got married, we invited a few friends over to watch the Superbowl. I was sitting between my husband and my best friend Kathe and they were speaking a language that I did not understand. “First down”, “false start” “off sides”??? What was this??

It was at that very moment that I decided to learn football! And so I did!

Now I am not saying that I am someone that knows all there is to know about the sport, but I can have a conversation about it with just about anyone and hold my own.

Later on, both of my boys would play. My oldest son started in 4th grade and my youngest started in 2nd. And both played all the way through highschool.

Man, I loved watching them play!! But they are grown now and those days have past. So, we have started a new way to enjoy football as a family.

We have a fantasy football league. At this time there are 5 of us in the league, my husband, both boys and my soon to be daughter-in-law and myself.

Every year we get together for the draft. I make wings and we compete to make the best team.

It is awesome!! No matter what life brings us, no matter what is going on, we have managed to get together for ‘the draft‘.

We have a trophy for the winner and each year the winners name will be put on the trophy and that person gets to display it until the next year’s winner is awarded.

It has become a family tradition of sorts. I hope it continues and the next generation joins in on the fun.

Happy football season!!!

  1. What a great tradition! Football is best enjoyed with family, friends and lots of hot wings. My daughter-in-law has converted most of our family from fanatic Braves (baseball) fans to die hard Steelers fans. (Except me. I will always be a Braves girl with a Seahawks heart)🏈⚾

  2. Wow this was wonderful Tammy ✔💯🤟🤟. There are many ways to bond with your family and loved ones, like over movies, camping, crafty projects and so on, but being able to all play together at sports and teamwork can be exceptionally good times hahaha.
Thank you so much for sharing your experiences and thoughtful perspective. And it is great that you had taken the time out to read my material as well 🔥👍✌.

    Hi Tammy
Thanks for the follow(s) * (+ likes), as the reason I write is to share.
    * (Though my family and close friends say it would be far more entertaining with a video-camera # in “real life”, rather than in cyberspace!)
    # By the way, do they still make them in today’s ever-faster changing world..or is it all done with mobile phones?
(get with the times now,”luddite”* c – it should be a smart phone)
    * or so I was often called by my “my techno-geek” friend, Bill (“the gonk”)

Kind regards and all the best with your blog
